The Foundation and its partners, including Portland Parks & Recreation, are working to restore Newton Wetland, located within Portland’s Forest Park.

While this project will principally benefit the red-legged frog subpopulation, known for its perilous annual journey across busy Highway 30 to Harborton wetland to spawn the next generation of frogs, this project also helps the Oregon slender salamander and a multitude of State Wildlife Action Plan species for whom wetlands are a source of food, water, and temporary shelter.

This project restores critical habitat in an area where the original wetland was lost decades ago to the construction of a fire road, leaving a variety of species without the resources they need to live and reproduce. With your support, we can bring Newton Wetland back and help ensure that Forest Park remains a refuge and home for Oregon’s native wildlife.

Join us in supporting ongoing work that conserves, restores, and protects the habitats that sustain Oregon’s wildlife species. This work isn’t possible without the support of people like you, who believe in protecting our environment to ensure Oregon’s wildlife thrive long into the future
