Brad Staple’s Annual Boat Trip - 2024

OWF Board Member and Past President Brad Staples started donating a day on the Deschutes River to the Foundation in 2012. In the mid-1980s to the 2000s, when the Foundation had in-person banquets, he donated a Steelhead fishing trip so the foundation could auction it off and raise some funds.

“The reason that I have been donating to Deschutes River Scenic Jet Boat Trip is to have the staff, board members and others experience the lower Deschutes River,” said Staples. “It was the largest project that OWF has been involved with.”

On Staple’s boat trips, guests can experience the amazing beauty of the lower 25 miles of the Deschutes River Canyon. They go through class 3+ whitewater rapids in a jet boat. There is also an opportunity to view California Bighorn sheep, Mule deer, Bald and Golden eagles, coyotes, Great Horned owls, Osprey, wild turkeys, raccoons and other animals in the canyon.

“I hope that my guests come away from their day on the river with me learning about what the Foundation does around the State of Oregon for our fish and wildlife,” stated Staples. “I also hope that they have an appreciation of the animals and the natural environment along the river corridor.”
